I don’t know if there was any doubt about the long-term future for Apex Legends and maybe because the general surprise that Apex Legends for Mobile didn’t go well as expected, Respawn needed to do this.
Electronic Arts may have been giving some extra space to Respawn Entertainment regarding Apex Legends as Respawn announced the opening of a third studio that will focus entirely on their Battle Royale game.
The news was confirmed this week by Ryan Burnett during an interview with GameIndustry.biz and the new studio is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
Burnett is already an industry veteran, having been working with Raven Software (one of Call Of Duty game developers) for 14 years and recently, served as Epic Games’s director of engine production.
With Ryan Burnett’s branch, Respawn Entertainment aims to have a solid length of between 10 to 15 years and will have seasonal switch for each 90 days or three months guaranteed.
While this was unexpected news, this will give some ease to Apex Legends fans that felt unease with the cancellation of both Mobile Apex Legends and a unannounced solo experience with the universe of Titanfall.
