Despite cryptocurrency and NFTs losing more fans and with rumors that Nvidia, Intel and others are just quietly moving on from hardware dedicated to curating blockchains, Square Enix has been and wants to remain the face of gaming via NFT.

This week, Square Enix announced that it has reached an agreement with a company called Elixir Games for bringing solutions for infrastructure and distribution capacities for Web3 games.

Web3 games are basically games that are behind a NFT store and currently, Square Enix is developing its first official game called Symbiogenesis, which is an original JRPG slated to be free to play but obviously NFT and microtransaction will be behind a crypto blockchain.

Elixir Games is a US-incorporated tech company with a distributed team across Europe, Asia and the Americas and was founded in 2018 but has been taking a big momentum on games based on blockchain with their Elixir Network.

It remains to see if this means something for Symbiogenesis or this could mean more original Web3 games from Square Enix.
