As forecasts pretty much nail it, the first foray of Nintendo in making a movie with a majority of creative control along with Illumination have managed to join the lovely list of the billion dollar movie and it is a WAHOO for The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The 4th weekend for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, not only meant its 4th victory in a row, but the weekend ended with $68.3M this weekend in 80 overseas markets, bringing its international total earnings through Sunday to $532.5M. 

With our markets, it is the estimated The Super Mario Bros. Movie has already earned $1.022B.

This places the 10th animated film in history to cross $1B worldwide, and is the 10th biggest animated film of all time globally, overtaking Despicable Me 2 and Minions: The Rise Of Gru, all original production from Illumination ironically.

This weekend The New Challengers for The Super Mario Bros. Movie were the re-screening of Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi celebrating its 40th anniversary (this week is also May the 4th is With you / Revenge Of The 5th day), Peter Pan And Wendy, AKA, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Big George Foreman, Sisu, Clock, The Black Demon, Born To Fly, Snag, The End Of Sex, Polite Society, The Eight Mountains, R.M.N.,Delicious Romance, Kill Her Goats, T.S. Eliot's Four Quarters and Nuclear Now.

Despite the big collection for a single weekend, neither movie defeated The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Evil Dead Rise, John Wick Chapter 4 and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves respectively.
