Yes, we are in days that EA Sport supremacy on sport video games is over as the NFL, while letting Electronic Arts keep the simulation aspect of a NFL game, they are letting other studios make games around the league.

While we are waiting for the first non-EA Sport NFL game, the surprise this week is not the not-revealed-yet 2K Sports’s take on NFL, but from an independent studio called StatusPro and it will be a VR one.

I think it should not be a surprise that the NFL did not want to wait for 2K as StatusPro was co-founded by former Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins and former college quarterback Troy Jones. The company has taken on high-profile investment from figures including LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, and Drake.

There are not many details of the game including itś name but at the GDC 2022, StatusPro and NFL mentioned that it aims to “recreate what it actually feels like to step out on the field [and let fans] transform into pro athletes”.

The game is not platform exclusive as it is already confirmed that we should expect both a Oculus VR and Playstation VR version although, it is not mentioned if this includes PSVR2 but that would be less likely if Sony doesn’t confirm final availability dates.

No, we can be sure that there are no happy faces on EA Sport right now.
