As part of the 25th anniversary of the ongoing manga/anime One Piece, Bandai Namco announced a new video game but not just another typical fighting or what I would like to call sagas-play-along type of game.
It is a new and original storied game and the first RPG centered game for One Piece called One Piece Odyssey.
While there is no deeper details, Bandai Namco said:
During their voyage, the Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy are swallowed by a huge storm at sea. They end up on a mysterious island full of nature amidst the storm and become separated from each other. The crew sets out on a new adventurous journey filled with wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals. Work together with Luffy and his crew to set sail once again!
The good news is that Luffy is not the only character that players can use as it was confirmed that Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Frankie, and Brook are usable characters.
Bandai Namco confirmed that they had the game developed by the studio ILCA, Inc., the very same studio that worked with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company on the remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl but all will follow the direct input of manga creator Eiichiro Oda.
One Piece Odyssey is slated to be released this very year for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
