I remember not being so surprised that Wizards of The Coast was behind the Pokémon Trading Card game original publisher/printer. While nowadays I am surprised that they are no longer a thing, I am not also surprised that they want to literally “catch ‘em all!”.
The Pokémon Company announced that it had reached an agreement to buy Millennium Print Group, the company that prints the current generation of Pokémon TCG for an undisclosed amount.
Millennium Print Group will be a subsidiary for the most famous subsidiary of Nintendo, but will maintain its independence on operations.
The idea behind the purchase is to give The Pokémon Company complete control and autonomy regarding Pokémon Trading Card Game while helping MPG to be the best alternative for current and new customers.
Seems like a “all parties win” to me, but the plus definitely goes for Pokémon Co. which will capitalize with every positive number that Millennium Print Group can achieve beginning right away transaction close.
This kind of thing will take time as this will be under regulatory scrutiny and a timeline was not published, nor how much money The Pokémon Company will end up paying to Millennium Print Group, who are based in North Carolina.
