When Meta  Platforms (back then Facebook Inc.) bought WhatsApp, it was clear to Mark Zuclergberg and his team that the technology behind its security and performance was key for current and future products.

Now it is 2022 and the best key part is its End-to-End Encryption or EE2E for short and will protect your conversation within Oculus Quest.

More precisely, the Quest VR Messenger and as Meta confirmed, testing are already underway with the development of the firmware V40 update.

As part of an future update that will bring a focus on privacy and security, Meta via Oculus, announced that they are bringing EE2E both texting and calls done within the Quest VR Messenger and why there is no real reason to have it turned off, it will be optional for the user.

V40 will also bring App Unlock functionality that needs direct user interaction to be opened, 3D Secure update to have secure payments within Oculus and a more set of keyboards with visual representation.

The v40 update is available now and specifically the EE2E functionality is not considered a final version, so you should expect more improvements in future updates.
