I think it is no longer a novelty that Electronic Entertainment Expo 3 or simply E3 will not go this year for the first time in almost 30 years and practically leaving Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest as the only big event for gaming for literally the summer.
With this it seems that we are inbound for some news as in past Twitter Space session, Keighley indicated that this year will be seeing less exclusive digital events from publishers and studios as they had a negative impact and should expect to see them showcased on Summer Game Fest.
Of course a big exception will be Xbox And Bethesda Showcase programmed for Sunday June 12th at 1PM ET.
Going directly on companies like Capcom, Square Enix and Take-Two that seems to have jumped in and being referred as the companies with negative feedbacks from their digital show’s of 2021 Keighley said:
“I think [they] have learned that if you’re going to do a press conference, you kind of need to have 30 minutes-plus of stuff, and sometimes they only have one or two great games to show, which may not be enough to do a full event around.
So I think that’s going to be a bit of a shift. I have a pretty good sense of what’s coming in the next month, and I think people will be hyped about games in general.
There is still a lack of games coming out right now, this kind of is the Covid gap year I think… with a lot of games being delayed because they were started during the pandemic. We’re still hoping for a lot of things to come out”.
Of course, with an E3-less June and already a big profiled event, The Summer Game Fest definitely will be an historic one and hard to dare to miss.
