The only bad news that Elden Ring launched was that the Dark Souls server will be remaining offline while it is true that they will also be the bank-end for online features of Elden Ring.

But finally there is a light in the tunnel for those missing online features, particularly with Dark Souls 3 as FromSoftware confirmed to PC Gamer that they are on final testing to reconnect the servers to the outside world.

We are currently in the process of restoring the online servers for the Dark Souls series on PC.

We plan to restore online service for each game progressively, bringing back servers for Dark Souls 3 once we complete the necessary work to correct the problem. We will provide additional updates as soon as the restoration schedule is finalized. We want to thank all our players for your patience and understanding as we work to fix this issue.

Unfortunately, there is no exact date when the restoration of online service for Dark Soul will jumpstart, but Dark Souls 3 is the priority rather than DS1 and 2.

To recap, FromSoftware received a message from an ethical hacker early 2022, that he identified a security flaw on their servers.

While it wasn’t acknowledged publicly, the noise within the Dark Souls and ethical hacking community is that the hacker could upload a remote code exploit that was sneaked into the game servers that literally affects PC users and can parse user’s PC running programs and specs.

All the time this has taken is rumored that the security flaw might be more horrible than that and FromSoftware did not want to risk it.
