A while ago, it was announced a feature that would make an Xbox go for an energy saving option as the default energy option where Microsoft wants Xbox consoles (One, Series S and Series X) is not the only thing (literally) green that Microsoft is attempting with Xbox.
Microsoft announced this week that the February update for Xbox One and Series S/X consoles will include new features that will help your Xbox hardware to minimize impact of energy usage, especially if you are on an electrical grid with no renewable energy source.
Expect your Xbox console to automatically be placed in the Shutdown (energy saving) power option, which Microsoft said cuts power use by up to 20x when consoles are off compared to Sleep and will try to schedule console updates at times when a larger proportion of electricity is coming from lower-carbon sources on the electric grid.
Microsoft claims that this options will help you decreases fossil fuel dependency and CO2 emissions and could potentially save you money
Also, players will be able to hide game art when selecting tiles on the Xbox home screen and while I think that dynamic imaging will actually help you conserve the life of your monitor or LED TV, I guess it won’t hurt to try.
Finally and an unexpected surprise is that Xbox consoles will began to have support for the Google Home or Google IoT platform to let players use the Google Home app as a touch remote control for Xbox consoles and will includes functions like switch their console on and off, navigate on-screen, control media playback, record game clips and more remotely.
