If you follow me at my socials, particularly on Twitter, might suggest what I had been checking and writing for this blog and if you haven't been aware yet, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed a not-so-good rumor about Overwatch.
In an AMA (Ask Me Anything), Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller confirmed that when Overwatch 2 gets the turn on, Overwatch 1 will get the turn off in a really untasteful end of life.
So yeah, if you managed to land a Legendary Edition of Overwatch in the last two year at special price, probably you will be feeling the sense that you got your money stolen and yes, I will dare to compare Blizzard as petty in contrast of Bungie, as they are not as big as they are, they had NO PROBLEM maintaining original Destiny despite all effort steered with Destiny 2.
What will happen between now and then, meaning the start of the Early Access of Overwatch 2, is that all your unopened loot boxes will be automatically opened, but NO transfer of all DLC gained/paid will get transferred.
Only thing that you will inherit from Overwatch is the game-in currency and I want to insist on the tasteless of this but if any, IS A SOUR TASTE.
This is a BIG different attitude when in 2021, Blizzard claimed that Overwatch and Overwatch 2 players would be able to play side-by-side when playing the same game modes and now Blizzard justify this u-turn as a way to get the player base unified.
Being completely honest here, if the original Overwatch was not a paid game in first place, probably this would not have been an issue at all (probably this article wouldn't even exist), but it is a blow when company feels entitled to charge people for a game and then shamelessly "Thank you for all" and no value in return and micro transactions will be a thing in Overwatch 2.
