Incredibly after announcing and then changing the original Overwatch game free-to-play, Blizzard Entertainment was still selling loot boxes and cosmetics DLC, including still accepting Prime Gaming's drops.

But that is about to end, as Blizzard confirmed that while loot boxes can still be acquired via gameplay, formal selling will stop by August 30, 2022.

Reminder, Overwatch 2 will NOT carry loot boxes and instead, the main monetization will be via paid and free battle passes through which players can also earn and buy cosmetics.
