After the fixes for Cyberpunk 2077, the most awaited news for CD Projekt Red’s fan was the confirmation on what will be the difference between current version of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt to the Playstation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC or just know as next-gen upgrade.
First thing that a next-gen upgrade needs is improvements from the previous version so yes, multiple quality-of-life improvements are the main part of the upgrade.
Examples like magic wielding, the left bumper activation to switch between different signs can now be changed, changes to the world map and more.
One BIG important QoL fix that The Witcher III: Wild Hunt includes now is that it is a cross-progression capable game, which means that you can switch between Playstation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC when you are in the mood of switching.
Remember: the upgrade is free for those who already bought the original PS4, Xbox One and first PC launch version.
Some minor accessibility features have been added too, including the ability to change the left-stick to auto sprint, instead of it being a face button prompt) and more.
Regarding notorious bugs, most focused on improving various models of foliage and other background features.
For console exclusive changes, graphics settings will be added and this will let players choose between 30 frames per second with ray tracing or 60 frames per second, depending on your monitor's true capacity.
For PC exclusives changes and besides the game gaining ray tracing, there will be more extensive customisation options and a new photo mode. A new camera angle is also being added for more dramatic and cinematic gameplay. The optional camera sits a little closer to Geralt and off to one side, somewhat akin to The Witcher 3's original reveal trailer.
The next-gen update for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt will go live on December 14th, 2023.
