As per Jason Schreier, Naughty Dog scaled back the development of The Last Of Us Multiplayer because it failed an assessment by Bungie, that it can keep players engaged in long-term questions quality & long-term viability. Bungie making its presence felt on Playstation Studios.

Well...year one ended with Jason Sanders shanking a 46-yard field goal that could have tied the game at the end of the 4th...I'm still proud of how we played in the season. In the off-season, we picked up Derwin James (FA), Donte Jackson (trade), & Greg Rousseau (trade), and drafted our QB of the future (Teddy was a FA and I traded Tua for Donte Jackson and picks). We also picked up Tony Pollard as well. Our defense is most likely going to be an elite unit in Year 2. I'm just worried about our offense. But we'll see what happens. This will have to be seen to be believed because it is NOT the first time something like this has been rumored and Activision's NOPE is coming. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg reports that sources at Activision indicate that the company has decided to ask Treyarch to delay what will be its new Call Of Duty from 2023 to refine details and that its launch is for 2024. This would break almost more than 20 years of annual releases with which it is evident that the community was already overwhelmed with so many titles in a row and it is obvious to say that the poor performance of COD Vanguard was below expectations a great motivator for rethinking some plans .
