Electronic Arts and Epic Games are headlining the first big “canceled” news regarding games based on franchise and it is Apex Legends Mobile, Battlefield Mobile and Rumbleverse will not go “a year old”.
Let’s start with Electronic Arts and the gaming publisher announced that both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile will be canceled and no further development will be done.
Apex Legends Mobile servers will go offline at 4pm PT on May 1, 2023 and the cancellation was justified as the game has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence.
Unfortunately, the game was co-developed with Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, TEncent Games subsidiaries, and the blame was placed on them and without Apex Legends Mobile probably this studio will face upo layoff.
Respawn Entertainment plans to bring their exclusive character on the main Apex Legends game.
In the case of Battlefield Mobile, the game was tested in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore and ironically, those markets were just added this week which gives an overview of how bad things went.
Battlefield Mobile is being developed by Industrial Toys, the studio headed by Bungie founder and former CEO Alex Seropian, which EA acquired in 2018.
Apex Legends Mobile servers will go offline at 4pm PT on May 1, 2023 and Battlefield Mobile obviously will never reach our market.
This leaves Rumbleverse as Epic Games capitalize on a new franchise to be as successful as Fortnite.
Unfortunately that was not the case as Rumbleverse, the free-to-play brawler by developer Iron Galaxy and publisher Epic Games, will shut down and developer Iron Galaxy hopes that Rumbleverse can be brought again in a proper time in the gaming market.
Players who have made any purchase since launch will be eligible for a refund while the game will go offline on February 28th.
So, three games, neither was a year old, being Apex Legends Mobile “the eldest” with just 9 months old, followed by Rumbleverse with just 6 months of age.
