For those (including me) that wondered when it is going to be a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 Remake follow-up that naturally, would have served for the 3rd and 4th game remake as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4, we got some bad news from the legend himself.
Tony Hawk revealed in a phone interview with andyTHPS (original THPS game tester for Neversoft, the original developer) that Activision Blizzard decided NOT to move forward with Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4.
“The truth of it is [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 and 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious.
So they took other pitches from other studios, like, ‘what would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it.
Who knows? Maybe when the dust settles, we’ll figure it out. You never know. I never would’ve thought we were going to do 1 and 2 20 years later.”
In a TLDR, Tony Hawk confirmed rumors that Vicarious Visions was folded up within the Blizzard side of inner studios of Activision Blizzard after directly acquiring them back in April and actually, Activision was not satisfied as remaining studios apparently could not match up VV's craft to be a proper substitute due insatisfaction with the game’s early prototypes.
Let’s hope that Tony Hawk is right and maybe there will be time to hear about Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 when the new current-gen of gaming get’s itself pulled together.
