Imagine the ideal world that Sony wants everybody to believe that it is ok for Playstation to keep buying more independent studios to make the Playstation Studio family stronger but for Microsoft, is it otherwise?

I'll let you judge if that made sense only for Sony or not, but meanwhile, Sony announced that it has bought Firewalk Studios and has become the 20th studio of the Playstation Studios family.

“Firewalk Studios is led by a world-class team that is highly experienced and deeply passionate about creating exceptional multiplayer games that foster memorable shared experiences,” Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said. “I’m confident the studio’s upcoming project will be a robust addition to PlayStation Studios’ portfolio, and its live service and technology expertise will be instrumental in helping grow PlayStation’s reach.”

Founded in 2018, Firewalk Studios was working on their first game, slated to be a rich multiplayer game experience rooted in great core gameplay and inspired art”, which could mean that Sony was impressed with the work done so far, that it has decided to have it as a Playstation exclusive and for nobody else.

Pretty much the same thing with Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios being purchased last year.
