Hard days for Daedalic Entertainment as Lord Of The Rings: Gollum did not become the success it was scheduled to become due to hard critics and a game release in a state below a stable release and prompted some impactful movements.
Daedalic Entertainment confirmed to local press in Germany, that it has canceled all games in development, reportedly included a new original Lord Of The Rings game and laid-off all developers and closed all internal development studios.
This impacted 25 employees.
The company said that it will remain its business focusing on publishing, licensing, sales and marketing going forwards and while recognizing it is a sour turnpoint, they are hopeful that it means the dawn of a new chapter.
As you recall and despite some delays to actually polish the game, Lord Of The Rings: Gollum got release in association with publisher Nacon and was criticized to be a broken adventure and the quality of the game not going on part of what was promised, landing the game with the words Metacritic point for 2023.
