The rocky Year 1 and progressing Year 2 of Battlefield 2042 doesn’t need a review or a re-introduction. Electronic Arts is already moving with the next thing and already announced that a new solo campaign was in development but no DICE involvement was shared.

But it appears that Electronic Arts is giving DICE a second opportunity here as it was announced that DICE was the co-developer of the already announced Battlefield solo campaign, originally announced as being in development by Ridgeline Games.

Despite now being a duo, Ridgeline Games will be the leading team as DICE is building a new team that will support Ridgeline Games on the project.

Meanwhile, DICE also confirmed to GameIndustry.biz that they are working on other multiplayer for the franchise LA-based Ripple Effect is creating a completely different Battlefield project.

All this move goes in hand with Electronic Arts previous plans on converting the Battlefield franchise into a “connected Battlefield universe” alongside widespread changes to the franchise’s development structure.
