The new gaming and entertainment conglomerate Embracer Group is apparently not done growing up from gamers companies and three months after buying Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal from Square Enix, we got more news.

This morning the gaming world woke up in a surprise when Embracer Group announced that they bought a quite collection of companies, some whole were even a surprising purchase and includes:

  • Limited Run Games
  • Tripwire Interactive
  • Singtrix
  • Tuxedo Labs

All are gaming industry related companies but one of the surprising purchases was Limited Run Games, one of the few (and until yesterday) gaming market stores where they create physical collectibles for classic games and from the independent community of games developers that cannot have the backing for creating physical items for their games.

Actually, in a blog posted officially, Limited Run Games said that they called the transaction a “treasure trove of new and classic IPs” as Embracer already houses former and current partners and this will mean more opportunity for new offerings.

Limited Run will operate as an independent subsidiary of the Embracer Freemode (a call to say that they respond to Embracer but operate without needing approval.

While LOTR: Gollum was delayed, The Hobbit & Lord Of The Rings games right change hands

Another interesting of the newest acquisitions of Embracer Group was winning all things related to J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece including the lore and EVERYTHING related to The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings via a transaction done by The Saul Zaentz Company hading them Middle-Earth company with complete approval from the Tolkien Estate and HarperCollins.

Meaning that now Embracer Group is the rightful owner and has the final say to everything related to the franchise and this will include the Amazon produced TV Series The Lord Of The Rings: Rings Of Power.

And by the way, MANY are surprised that Amazon lost the bid as it was long rumored that Amazon was aiming to use the TV Series’s success as a leverage to gain the rights of Tolkien’s work and we shall see how a new relationship between Embracer Group and Amazon goes from now on.
