Pretty much, independent developers have to take the lead on the fight of toxicity and bad people within Twitch and while the Amazon streaming subsidiary have done some effort, this is a first big one.
Twitch announced Shield Mode, which is kind of a protection that streamers and their mods can activate in real-time when a hate raid is occurring.
Shield Mode gives you a set of settings that will ban chatters using a specific word or phrase or prohibit first-time chatters from speaking at all and be deactivated when the raid ends, pretty much seamless experience.
Twitch claims that Shield Mode recognizes and calls out the stressful balancing act marginalized streamers face when it comes to safety on the platform, somehow it lessens the importance of having other launched security features like phone-verified chat, which I personally urge you activate regardless, which could somehow limit your growth.
Remember, it is better to grow slowly with complete security that you are not going to be without options if you face a hate raid moment, rather than grow artificially vulnerable unneededly.
Despite being a full -fledged feature, Twitch urges users to share feedback whenever Shield Mode is used so they can better tune in in a more real-life usage and even to have the feature to prevent these events before they occur in the future.
