This week is the long-awaited opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios and the first foray of Ninntendo in a non-gaming venture related to its Intellectual Properties, mainly Super Mario Bros and talking about Mario franchise, probably we will be hearing for a new game soon.
In a media tour as he wanted to personally attend at the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studio, Nintendo main game director Shigeru Miyamoto admitted that there is a new Super Mario game but the development is held.
In an interview with IGN, Miyamoto was quoted:
“We’re always working on Mario, so when we get to a time where we can share information, we’ll certainly do so.”
Apparently, the development has been put on hold as Miyamoto and Nintendo are interested in the attention go full blast on Super Nintendo World and the Super Mario Bros. movie, co-developed by Illumination and being released on Theaters in April.
For those who didn’t know, Shigeru Miyamoto was well involved in the amusement park’s design and concept, stating that it has been a great while that he actually created using his hands physically.
It remains to see if by summer, when the movie has passed its main marketing phase and maybe Super Nintendo World has taken traction, we could see any future Mario announcement soon and maybe, the next big hardware phase for Nintendo.
