A hard Tuesday for Twitch and it is that the former OG of gaming streaming and currently Amazon video streaming service continues to monetize whenever it can but at his favor and the latest Terms Of Conditions changes went as horrible as you can expect.

It was another Tuesday afternoon, when content creators and streamers received an TOS update from Twitch and were not good news.

Practically the main issue was new guidelines on how streamers HAD to make their visual sources to display but most of them enforcing a NO ORGANIC ADS and logo should not take over the 3% of the screen.

Twitch is the last people you can expect to NOT KNOW that organic ads are part of partnership and main income source for many streamers, including those struggling to have their content as main income source.

We may get that Twitch is looking for income themselves and this change was in favor of their advertising network getting favored and not being confused.

It didn’t take more than 2 hours to backpedal “acknowledging” that the TOS changes were in a “bad language”, but people are not fools and very skeptical that this is a major “oops”, but rather Twitch unable to handle the rage of people.

To make matters worse, later after Twitch’s apology, some streamer discovered an unpleasant surprise, maybe in a legal but scummy strategy of avoiding people leaving Twitch by charging a $25 of un-affiliation fee that can be charged off if you are pending a final Twitch payment.

While it is not a big issue (you can go on on other platforms regardless of Affiliation status) it does send a message that Twitch is not tolerating more people being lured to other platforms.

But on the other hand, they are doing a horrible job, because it was also discovered that Twitch is backpedaling their simulcasting tolerance and not Twitch Partners are expected not to be exposed doing simulcasting while being live on Twitch but also NON Partners and NON Affiliate, not even TikTok/Instagram-like vertical networks.

You be the judge on the state of Twitch nowadays.

UPDATE: 06/07/2023 - Twitch rolled back the changes with no further changes

Twitch has completely retracted the change and until new announcement, things goes as usual in an attempt to forget this incident.
