With the end of holidays and New Years festivities, comes the first season of earning reporting for 2023 and that includes gaming interests but interestingly, it is not the turn for Ubisoft yet, some bad news just became public ahead of quarter end.

Ubisoft announced that they needed to update their Q3 2023 forecast of sales as the company admitted being facing “major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles that can reach players across the globe, across platforms and business models”.

The company needed to cut 105 millions of Euros off the original forecast and now expect sales to be around €725m, but "WHAT HAPPENED?" you might be asking.

Well first, the performance of both Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023 underperformed unexpectedly to the point that metrics for the holidays were below acceptable levels, mixed with the challenges of the industry itself.

Unfortunately another collateral on this shift of focus was that Skulls & Bones was once again delayed and it is expected to be launched within Fiscal Year 2024, which means that release can be between April 2023 to March 2024.

Not the first time and unfortunately won't be the last that Ubisoft is not specific on major launching release dates.

Three unannounced games will never see the light of the day as their respective developments have been canceled also.

The news comes at times of uncertainty as Ubisoft claimed that it had made progress on Skulls & Bones development, one historically plagued with issues and delays.

Ubisoft have plenty on their hand right now with their pipeline including XDefiant, 5 Assassin’s Creed games (including Assassin’s Creed Mirage as the next main game), Project Q (which basically hasn’t shared anything else besides acknowledging after leaks were non-stop), Skulls & Bones, Remake de Splinter Cell, ALL AAA games and seems that Ubisoft is getting limited in every aspect and that’s include their broad expectations.

The Q3 2023 results are scheduled to be shared in the first half of February 2023.
